Silly me. GPS of course works on iphone

My mistake. GPS with maps (like google) works fine on iphone just not on my touch unless I'm using wi-fi. Another "no advantage" to winmo. Actually since it works better than winmo's google maps, its a strike against winmo. Hmmm, just when will I switch.

Holding off on iphone switch

I've decided to hold off on getting the iphone and switching to AT&T from verizion and my xv6800 windows mobile device. I've gotten a data plan on verizon to hold me off hopefully for a while. The things I miss the most (that I use on my touch) is the screen, screen, screen. I find I can thumb type as fast or faster on the touch than with my xv6800 device which has a full qwerty keyboard. Plus the interface is just smooth and extremely responsive compared to winmo. The one advantage to this winmo device (now that I have a data plan) over the iphone is gps. I used gps with google maps yesterday for the first time and it worked very well. AFAIK, you can't do this with the iphone but I'm sure that'll change soon. Does the iphone have a gps chip in it?

Notes:

* Sometimes email programs append text to the bottom of each sent message; to make sure this cruft doesn't get posted to your blog, put #end at the end of your post.

iPhone thoughts

I've been reading a bunch about iPhone versus windows mobile. I'm pretty set on switching from my Verizion xv6800 (and ipod touch 16gb) to an iPhone on AT&T. The only question is when. I simply really like the touch and am convinced the iphone will work for me as a converged device. And this is after being a winmo user/developer since the beginning of Pocket PC's. The iPhone really is leading me towards trying a mac for the first time also although I just don't have the funds for that right now.
