Media Center add-in: Postion Changer (vista) by Stephen Toub

http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/207845.aspx

This add-in lets you move (relative or absolute) to a location in a recorded video:
from http://blogs.msdn.com/toub/archive/2007/01/03/position-changer-add-in-updated-for-windows-vista.aspx:
"using the add-in is pretty straightforward. While viewing or listening to media, press the right arrow on the remote or keyboard. Then enter the time you want to jump to (123 for 1 minute 23 seconds, 1053 for 10 minutes 53 seconds, etc.) and press enter. Pressing the left arrow instead of the right arrow makes the jumps relative instead of absolute."

Instructions for installation:
1.Copy the contents of the debug folder to \Program Files\MCE\Position Changer Add-In 2.Open a command window with administrative privliges 3.cd \windows\ehome 4.fsutil hardlink create PositionChangerAddIn.dll "\Program Files\MCE\Position Changer Add-In\PositionChangerAddIn.dll" 5.cd "\Program Files\MCE\Position Changer Add-In" 6."\windows\ehome\RegisterMCEApp.exe" /allusers "PositionChangerAddInReg.xml" 7.Restart all of your Media Center Sessions... I can't take credit for this ... http://unmitigatedrisk.com/archive/2007/03/17/38.aspx cna however. And I can confirm it works :D Great little plugin :)

If you get this error when synchronizing your windows mobile device to outlook 2007 on your computer,

Run fixmapi.exe in \windows\system32. You might need to make sure activesync and outlook are closed and your device is not connected before running fixmapi.exe.

8100030f error in windows live messenger logging in

When you get error 8100030f in windows live messenger:
(messenger: we can't sign you in to windows live messenger because the authentication service is not compatible)

http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/ohad/archive/2009/02/23/windows-live-messenger-error-8100030f.aspx

The solution to the problem is to edit the "hosts" file which is located at :

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Just add to the file the following line at the end of the file:

65.54.239.80    messenger.hotmail.com
