Captivate - Gingerbread 2.3 - AT&T Community Support
Captivate - Gingerbread 2.3 - AT&T Community Support:
'via Blog this'
The fix for GPS on the Captivate is simple - it took me a long time to find it. AT&T was no help. All they did was tell me that they don't support GPS on the Captivate - a total bu**s**t response. If that's the case, how can they charge you a monthly fee for navigation/maps??????????
All you have to do is download the Any Cut application, open it and create a shortcut to the activity Lbstestmode, then open Lbstestmode and click on SUPL/CP Settings and change your server to supl.google.com, port 7276. Once you've done that, go outside and bring up something like the GPS status app - mine now locks on to 8 satellites in about 15 seconds.
That's it! It works!
PS - the SUPL server (location server) that was set in 2.1, 2.2 (and probably also will be in 2.3) is just plain slow and bad. There are plenty of other phones that have this same exact problem. If you are a geek and are capable of editing the GPS config data on your own, then the instructions to do that are here (it's for T-Mobile, but the instructions are the same for your Captivate):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240352
So, when and if you upgrade to 2.3, you'll have to go in and make this fix again (change the SUPL server name).
The problem is that the location server that AT&T (and some others) use to feed location data to the GPS software in your phone stinks! There are other location servers that you could use, but I am very happy with google's free supl.google.com.

Dog Sitting Exchanges? - Mutts Welcome (Colorado Springs, CO) - Meetup
Dog Sitting Exchanges? - Mutts Welcome (Colorado Springs, CO) - Meetup: "I really like my Dog-Sitter who was recommended by one of Sandy's co-worker's and her name is 'Debbie the Dog Sitter', and you can reach her at 719-473-1139-she is great! She requires the usual updated shots, and she's located on the Central part of town and charges only $14.00 for a 24 hr. period.
Hope this helps.

Gingerbread -Android, hd7 wp7
Just saw the new gingerbread Android OS on an htc device at a t-mobile store and it looks really nice. Im not impressed easy but was impressed it was really snappy. Also really liked the hd7 wp7 phone. I'm sure glad these other OS's are keeping pressure on Apple. Looking forward to iOS 5 for my iPhone an iPad 2 coming in the fall. Lots of nice improvements. Might even consider getting an apple tv.

List of installed iPhone apps
You can generate a list of the apps in your iTunes (not necessarily the ones currently installed on your phone) by selecting the Applications Library and using the iTunes File menu Print command. Use the "Song Listing" and "Custom" theme to generate just a list of the apps names.

Best Remote Desktop App - Page 24 - Apple iPad Forum: "Splashtop"
Splashtop is not really meant for that kind of thing. You have to use the right tool for the job. What Splashtop does, and does better than any other remote app at the moment, is perform FAST. Video, Flash, sound... it's like being at the remote PC. So if that speed is what you want, you can get it with Splashtop.
I often DO want that speed.... so if I can't get in via Splashtop to my Windows box (no issues with my Mac) I simple get the Windows box going with iTap RDP. Now if I was remoting in for maintenance and not entertainment I would be using RDP in the first place, and not Splashtop.
You don't even have to use a paid RDP app to kick start the Windows box. You can use one of the free RDP apps... or VNC.
